Natural Dyeing - the process

View fullsize A stainless steel 7 litre dye bucket, an essential piece of kit for the serious natural dyer. Experimenting here with berries collected in the summer months.
View fullsize The dye was made up of blackcurrant berries and a mordant to make the colour adhere to the linen fabric.
View fullsize I gradually dipped the fabric into the dye pot to create a dip dyed effect, evoking the gradual colour change of the sky at dusk.
